| Should you serve heavy hors-d'oeuvre with the small plates at a sit-down reception? I was under the impression, if we have a sit down reception, we should serve lunch. My wedding is a 12:00 pm, the guys are wearing black, is it ok to wear colors with the formal, black tux & how trendy is the cross-collar tux shirt? |

Hors-d'oeuvres served on small plates are better for a reception at which the guests will be standing and mingling. You are correct in thinking that a meal should be served if it is to be a sit-down affair and close to the lunch hour. As for color with the black tuxedos, colored vests are "in" and come in a wide variety of colors and patterns. You might put the groom in a black vest and the groomsmen in colored ones.
